Hovdan Poly is a leading chandlery and distributor of marine products in Norway. As well as being a large scale chandlery to the leisure, fishing, and industrial markets, they are a B2B distributor across Norway for a number of key brands. Maksimer have delivered a multi faceted ecommerce integration of Woocommerce with an advanced ERP supporting B2B and B2C channels.

Hovdan-Poly needed a webstore that could provide the appropriate access (and pricing) to both trade and leisure customers on the same platform. Our solution is designed to allow the automated synchronisation of product information from Hovdan’s stock management systems through to both the B2C and the B2B customers, simply and reliably.

To manage their varied and extensive stock lines Hovdan decided to move away from multiple spreadsheets on excel with up to 17000 lines of product information, and invested in the local market leading ERP system VISMA (See this case study at VISMA (norwegian content)). Maksimer has extensive experience in integrating many different ERPs including VISMA into Woocommerce. Working with the vendor, the ERP consultant, and the client we were able to help them implement the ERP and have an effective integration to the ecommerce platform.

Having the systems connected is of course only part of the journey to a successful ecommerce store – with the technical framework in place, the site needs to be designed with an appropriate look and feel for the target markets. In this case, clean, professional, clear, and engaging, with a limited palette and intuitive navigation.

To ensure the content for the site was going to sustain the growth goals for Hovdan, our content and SEO specialists worked alongside Hovdan’s own team for a number of months, helping to create content, and also upskilling their staff, who now manage the site and content themselves.
